Bad news for the Canucks.

The injury to Vancouver Canucks star forward Elias Pettersson was initially reported as something that was not very serious, but if this trend continues I suspect that fans in Vancouver will grow considerably more concerned with time.

On Monday Vancouver Canucks head coach Travis Green confirmed that the Canucks would once again be without their exciting young star in the lineup, this time when they face off against the Montreal Canadiens. Green confirmed the news ahead of their game against the Habs today which will air at 7pm on the West coast and 10pm Eastern time.

The news is already in and of itself a cause for concern as it now marks the second game that Pettersson has missed with what is at this time still an undisclosed injury. The news of the injury first broke last Thursday when National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that Pettersson was "battling something" although he reported at the time that the injury was not believed to be serious.

Travis Green would also go on to confirm that it would be Thatcher Demko starting in net for the Canucks this evening and stated that he was looking forward to facing the Habs again. Green's comments indicated that he felt his team would perform much better this time around after admitting that he felt the Canucks had not played well

Green did not provide any more details on the Pettersson injury other than to say that he "hopes" that Pettersson will be back at some point this week, but that doesn't mean a great deal. We will be bringing you all the updates on this injury as they become available.
