Matthew Barbany makes outrageous suggestion following Wilson’s actions on Rangers

Matthew Barbany is no saint - and was no saint in the National Hockey League - and, of course, had something to say about the Tom Wilson incident that took place on Monday and resulted in the Washington Capitals’ forward only getting a $5,000 fine for punching New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich in the back of the head while he was facedown on the ice, while also throwing star Artemi Panarin to the ice in the ensuing scrum.

Fans were outraged with the NHL’s decision to only fine Wilson, who was suspended for seven games in March for a hit that injured Boston Bruins  defenseman Brandon Carlo. It was the fifth suspension of Wilson’s NHL career, the previous four coming in a 105-game span from 2017-18, which included a 20-game suspension for an illegal check to the head of Oskar Sundqvist of the St. Louis Blues back on Oct. 3, 2018, which was reduced to 14 games on an NHLPA appeal.

With all of this going on, Barbany took to Twitter to make an outrageous suggestion to all NHL teams: put all of your money on a player like Wilson to add to your roster (we’ve corrected some on the mistakes he made in his tweet to make it readable to you):

“Every team would back up the BRINKS truck for Wilson!! Everyone!!! No suspension. Carry on! And if you want to hold him accountable.. Have a tough guy on your team”

Hold him accountable? One fan responded to Barnaby’s tweet with a great footage on NHL referees doing everything they can to protect Wilson while a real tough one wants a piece of him:

Yeah… There is also a question of respect that Barbany isn’t considering in what Wilson pulled on Monday night. But do we sincerely believe he’d get that?

John Scott also shared his views on what happened on Monday night in this chaotic scrum and let’s just say both former players have very different views on what took place.
