In case you somehow, some way missed the news yesterday, Officer Derek Chauvin of the Minneapolis Police Department was convicted on two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter for the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd in May of 2020. Floyd's murder at the hands of the police sparked outrage and widespread protests across the United States, which ultimately led the NHL to shut down for 48 hours to observe the serious problems of racial inequality and police brutality in the country.

Yesterday, with Chauvin found guilty on all charges many people in the hockey world came forward to offer their opinion on the matter. One such individual was Minnesota Wild defenceman Matt Dumba. Dumba, of course, has been outspoken in his role with the Hockey Diversity Alliance (HDA) and who memorably "took a knee" during the singing of the National Anthem after an inspired speech.

Remember this?

Earlier today Dumba shared his thoughts on Chauvin's conviction and his hopes that the city of Minneapolis can now begin to heal:

Powerful words from a powerful individual.
