Maple Leafs' Shanahan fires member of staff Imoo after background check!

On Sunday,  the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League announced the hiring of Dusty Imoo as the team’s Goaltending Coach. 

Two days later on Tuesday, Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan made a public announcement, stating that the Marlies would not be joined by Imoo. 

“We made a mistake by not thoroughly following our organizational protocols when considering this candidate for position of goaltending coach for the Toronto Marlies,” reads the statement. 

For those wondering why Imoo got the boot so quickly, it came due to his past activities on social media. 

As it was pointed from posts made public on social media, Imoo encouraged several insurrectionist and conspiracy theorist Tweets he has favourited. The topics covered range from anti-Democrat or American president Joe Biden disinformation, anti-vaccine statements, support for the Jan 6, insurrection on Capitol Hill, transphobic hate speech and many other things of a nasty nature. Fans were outraged by what he supports and could not believed he was now linked to the Marlies and Maple Leafs.

Prior to his short-lived hiring by the Marlies, Imoo was the Los Angeles Kings’ former goalie development coach who worked with Jack Campbell with the club.

Clearly, Imoo did this to himself. As we tell kids nowadays, once you do something online, it can always come back to bite you in the ass!
