The good news is that Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin underwent successful knee surgery. The bad one is that he is expected to miss the start of training camp for the upcoming season.

Here is the official statement from the team: “Malkin was injured after a collision during the game on March 16 versus the Boston Bruins. He was sidelined for the final six weeks of the regular season, as well as Games 1 and 2 of Round One of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Malkin is expected to be unavailable for training camp in September. The team expects to have a more definitive time frame for his return at that time.”

The poor guy came back from the postseason for the third game of the first-round series against the New York Islanders, putting up a goal and five points in the process.

On just one knee!

We wish him all the best for the recovery and hope to get more info on a timeframe in the near future.
