MacKinnon passes Messier and Orr, joins Gretzky and Lemieux in playoff record books

An incredible achievement from an absolute stud of a player.

In case you missed it last night, the Colorado Avalanche managed to score a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues in Game 1 of their opening round Stanley Cup Playoff series. 

It was a fantastic game that included beautiful goals, big hits, nice saves and... well some mayhem.

First up, check out Avs captain Gabriel Landeskog absolutely dusting Blues forward Brayden Schenn early on in the first period:


The real highlights though came from Avs stud Nathan MacKinnon though as he put up two goals and an assist for a three point night to open up his playoff campaign.

And with that third point of the guy MacKinnon joins some pretty elite company in the NHL's all-time points per game playoff rankings, passing the likes of Mark Messier and Bobby Orr, while trailing a couple shlubs named Lemieux and Gretzky.
