There was no holding back for star forward Nathan MacKinnon following the Colorado Avalanche’s playoff elimination on Thursday night. The Avalanche swept the St. Louis Blues in the first round and took a 2-0 lead in their second-round series before the Vegas Golden Knights stormed back to win the whole thing in six games.

In his postgame presser, MacKinnon was clearly on edge and made a huge standard about his career: “I’m going into my ninth year next year and I haven’t won s—. So, I’m just definitely motivated, and it just sucks losing four [games] in a row to a team.”

It felt like this may be the Avalanche’s time to win it all : the team looked strong on every aspect and now the summer will bring changes to the roster. The Avalanche have a number of key players scheduled for unrestricted free agency this summer, including captain Gabriel Landeskog and goaltender Philipp Grubauer : a lot of work on GM Joe Sakic’s plate.

MacKinnon led Colorado in the playoffs with eight goals and 15 points – second-most in the league behind Tampa Bay Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov. He was named a Hart Trophy finalist on Thursday after recording 20 goals and 65 points in 48 games during the regular calendar.

While he has a lot to be proud, MacKinnon looked completely devastated by the loss and then he couldn’t believe the dumb question he faced from Adrian Dater. Check it out:

You can understand why MacKinnon was on edge with a question like that, he who probably had no desire to meet reporters after getting ousted from the postseason.

Dumbest question ever.

The Golden Knights will now face the Montreal Canadiens in the third round and the Lightning and New York Islanders will square off in the other semifinal.
