There are countless young men around the world who dream of one day playing in the National Hockey League, and there's no doubt in my mind that a young Logan Brown was among that group. Unfortunately for the native of Raleigh, North Carolina that dream has rapidly turned into a nightmare, and it would seem that he may have finally reached a boiling point.

On Saturday Ottawa Senators insider Bruce Garrioch confirmed that Brown has indeed requested a trade out of Ottawa, adding that the rumors surrounding a possible exit to Europe were true as well. To be clear Garrioch does not believe that the threat of Brown leaving to play in Europe was ever a serious one, but he did acknowledge that the threat had been made. According to the National Hockey League insider, Brown has even made a change of agent in order to facilitate a trade out of Ottawa but nothing has materialized as of yet.

To be fair to the Senators here it is hard to imagine that there will be much interest in Brown, if any, around the NHL. In spite of being the 11th overall pick at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Brown has appeared in a total of just 30 NHL games since being drafted. This has come largely as a result of Brown's inability to remain healthy for any length of time, having never completed a full season, likely the main reason that teams aren't interested in giving up any assets for him.

Garrioch reports that the Senators are not willing to give him up for nothing, but you have to wonder if that won't be exactly how this plays out in the end. It is no secret that Brown is not the type of player that Senators head coach DJ Smith tends to favor, and he could very well end up on waivers sooner rather than later.

Just yesterday it was revealed that Brown had signed a one year, two-way deal, and this could also facilitate a trade from the Senators at the end of the day. Although Brown's long history of injuries make him a high risk pickup, even on waivers, the fact that he is earning the league's minimum salary does mitigate a great deal of that risk.
