After 9 games this season the New Jersey Devils find themselves with a record of 4-3-2 on the season and it was obvious that Sunday's win over the Buffalo Sabres served as a big momentum and moral boost for the Devils locker room.

It was all smiles in the locker room following the 5 - 3 win and the smiles continued when during his post game speech head coach Lindy Ruff took the time to give a special shout out to 3 of his players.

The first shout out went to New Jersey Devils rookie Mikhail Maltsev who was playing in his very first NHL game which subsequently turned into his first NHL win. It was a 5 year journey to the NHL for Matlsev who was drafted in 2016 by the Devils in the 4th round (102nd overall) of that year's draft and no doubt at 22 years of age it was one of the most special moments of his young life.

The second went out to forward Michael McLeod who recorded the first two goal game of his NHL career. Another pretty big moment for a 22 year old who in this case is in the third year of his NHL career.

The best moment of Ruff's speech however came with his third shout out, and this time it was to a veteran on the team in defenseman P.K. Subban. After heaping accolades on the others Ruff instead took a playful jab at Subban suggesting that this had been his first win as a Devil in which he wasn't a minus on the scoresheet. The statement resulted in a roar of laughter from the Devils who were all off camera, and although Ruff was wearing a mask at the time you could tell that he was grinning from ear to ear while making the statement.

Although Ruff was clearly joking the win no doubt felt great for Subban who is coming off arguably the worst season of his career in the NHL. This was a pretty good game from Subban, who had a single point on the night thanks to a ridiculous pass that set up the aforementioned McLeod for a beautiful goal just 20 seconds into the game.
