Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper confirmed it : forward Alex Killorn won’t be in the lineup for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final against the Montreal Canadiens tonight.

The veteran was absent from the team’s optional skate Wednesday morning ahead of Game 2, and Cooper was forced to make changes to his lineup after he had mentioned on Tuesday that Killorn’s status for Game 2 was up in the air because of a lower-body injury.

The injury is likely to have come after Killorn blocked a shot from Habs defenseman Jeff Petry with his left ankle in the second period of Monday’s Game 1. He ended up playing just one shift in the third period.

He has eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 19 games for the Lightning so far these playoffs. He posted 15 goals and 18 assists in 56 games during the regular season.

During the morning skate, Mathieu Joseph was seen practicing and watching videos with Pat Maroon and Ross Colton. He could be the one drawing in on fourth line and Tyler Johnson moving up to Antony Cirelli line for Killorn.

There is also the possibility that Cooper could use 11 forwards and seven defensemen with Luke Schenn drawing in for the contest.

The Bolts and Canadiens continue their series on tonight with Game 2 going from Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay. Tampa leads the series 1-0.
