Leafs throw Mikheyev and Kerfoot on trade block!

Not sure a lot of fans saw this one coming…

It seems like Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas did his best, which meant losing a player to the expansion draft he had just traded for, in order to keep Alex Kerfoot on his roster, however, now chatter points to Kerfoot and even Ilya Mikheyev getting placed on the trade block!

According to Darren Dreger, who spoke on the air of TSN 1050, there are “some trade speculation about Ilya Mikheyev and Alex Kerfoot.”

We all know that the Maple Leafs have been focused on upgrading their goaltending situation and when the names of Mikheyev and Kerfoot were brought up, some wondered if it had to do with rumours that Dubas was looking at Arizona’s Darcy Kuemper to become Jack Campbell’s partner in Toronto.

The Leafs aren’t the only club interested, however.

While Dubas could be looking at ways to make room on the flattened salary cap for a goalie, there are talks that he could also be after Linus Ullmark. We still don’t know if Frederik Andersen will stay, but we bet he will walk if another team makes him a suitable offer.

We can’t see more about this new trade rumour ahead of the opening of the free agency, but one thing is sure is that Dubas isn’t afraid of making stunning moves when we expect it the least.

We’re gonna keep a close eye on this one.
