The Toronto Maple Leafs have a bit of a cushy schedule in the next two weeks and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman predicts that GM Kyle Dubas may make a move during the team's "down time".

In his latest 31 Thoughts column for Sportsnet, Friedman predicted that the Leafs will try to get a deal done and he threw out Mattias Ekholm, Filip Forsberg, Mikael Granlund, Eric Staal and Marc Staal as potential options.

Check it out:

After Thursday, Toronto has five games in 14 days. It would not be a stunner if the Maple Leafs tried to make their move during this time to minimize quarantine on any player coming from the U.S. In the last week, Toronto’s been rumoured to be in on half the league, from Mattias Ekholm to Filip Forsberg to Mikael Granlund to Eric Staal to Marc Staal. We will see what GM Kyle Dubas decides to do.

The rumours about Granlund certainly aren't new, but this is the first we've heard of E. Staal as a potential option and man, oh man does it make a lot of sense. Thoughts, Leafs fans?
