Leafs and Sens unveil their rosters for the final game of the preseason.

A preview of an early matchup in the regular season.

The City of Ottawa and the City of Toronto have a long standing rivalry that truly transcends the sport of hockey. The two cities have been sporting rivals for quite some time, something that makes sense given their relative close proximity, and on Saturday night they will rekindle that rivalry when the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators, their respective hockey teams, face off in the Battle of Ontario.

This will be a preseason game, which means that it won't count in the overall standings at the end of the regular season. Given the fact that this game will take place just a few short days ahead of a regular season between these two however could make it an interesting preview of that matchup.

The full complement of National Hockey League stars will not be out for these teams tonight, as is often the case in preseason hockey, but there are more regular starters featured on these rosters than the last time these two squads faced in the preseason.

Here is a look at the Maple Leafs roster for this evening, as per the official release from the Maple Leafs department of Public Relations:

The Senators have also released their roster for tonight's game, although they have done so through a PDF. Here is a breakdown of their roster for tonight's game:

Goaltenders:

Matt Murray

Anton Forsberg

Defensemen:

Artem Zub

Josh Brown

Michael Del Zotto

Nikita Zaitsev

Erik Brannstrom

Dillon Heatherington

Thomas Chabot

Victor Mete

Forwards:

Josh Norris

Alex Formenton

Zach Sanford

Tim Stutzle

Drake Batherson

Logan Shaw

Nick Paul

Andrew Agozzino

Connor Brown

Mark Kastelic

Scott Sabourin

Tyler Ennis

Chris Tierney

As I stated earlier tonight's game will be a much closer representation of what we can expect from either team during the regular season than their previous encounter in the preseason. The Leafs are effectively fielding their full roster this evening, with the notable exception of star forward Auston Matthews who will not be in the lineup, which is a stark contrast to the roster they had previously fielded against the Senators which more closely resembled their American Hockey League roster than their National Hockey League squad.

The Senators also have a number of their regulars in the lineup this evening, although they will also be missing one of their star forwards from the lineup. Forward Brady Tkachuk remains in contract limbo and will therefore not be available.

Update: As always preseason rosters are subject to change and that is exactly the case here. Senators head coach DJ Smith has announced some major changes to his roster, pulling many of his regulars out of the lineup tonight.
