Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas has announced that the team has loaned forward Kalle Kossila to EHC Red Bull Munchen of the German DEL.

Check it out:

The 27 year old Kossila was signed by the Leafs last offseason and was pegged to be a fourth line contributor but a concussion kept him out of the lineup for most of the season. He played just 12 games with the Leafs' AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies, putting up three goals and six points. He has played 19 career NHL games all with the Anaheim Ducks from 2016 to 2019. It remains to be seen whether or not he'll return to North America and the Leafs franchise.

Kossila's transer to Europe is particularly interesting because it shows that Dubas is at the very least doing some housecleaning for the upcoming 2021 NHL season. While Kossila likely wasn't going to play a big role for the Leafs, he was a reliable depth piece who could have played a role for the team if they ran into injury troubles. With today's news though, it appears that Dubas has other plans in mind.

Stay tuned, Leafs fans.
