Laine dances through the entire Red Wings and scores the goal of the preseason
Columbus Blue Jackets

In case you missed it last night, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine absolutely shredded the Detroit Red Wings in Columbus last night, slicing through the entire team to score the most beautiful goal of the entire 2021-22 NHL preseason.

Check it out:

A goal so nice, that we've GOT to see it twice:

If this is what Laine has up his sleeve for the 2021-22 regular season, sign me up!

It's no secret that the former 2nd overall pick struggled to adjust to his new team in Columbus last season after coming over from the Winnipeg Jets in a mid-season blockbuster trade. The former 44 goal scorer put up just 10 goals and 21 points in 45 games with the Blue Jackets last season and clashed with then head coach John Tortorella. But with Torts out of the picture and with Laine set to become a restricted free agent once again next offseason, there's reason to believe that he could have an absolutely MONSTROUS season in 2021-22.

Personally, I'd love nothing more than the see Laine shut up all the critics and go out and score 50 goals this season. If nothing else, Blue Jackets fans deserve it after seeing stars like Artemi Panarin, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Seth Jones and Sergei Bobrovsky all depart in recent years. The Blue Jackets are somewhat of a misfit franchise and Laine is somewhat of a misfit goal scorer. To me, it sounds like a perfect match.
