Kuznetsov and Samsonov pulled from Capitals lineup for “disciplinary reasons”

This just in, the Washington Capitals have removed forward Evgeni Kuznetsov and goaltender Ilya Samsonov from the lineup for tonight's game against the New York Rangers who "disciplinary reasons".

Check it out:

That's... that's not good.

I'm not saying that these two stories are linked, but you may recall that the Capitals were fined $100,000 for violating the NHL's COVID-19 protocols back in January. Kuznetsov, Samsonov, Alex Ovechkin and Dmitry Orlov were all added to the NHL's COVID-Related Absence List immediately following that bit of news.

So... again... I'm not saying these two instances are linked, BUT... it certainly makes you go, "Hmmmmm."

And that's saying nothing about Kuznetsov's positive cocaine test results back in 2019.

We may never know what Kuznetsov and Samsonov are being punished for today, but Kuznetsov's past transgressions don't do much to help his cause in the public's eye. Stay tuned for more details.
