Ouch. A big time overpayment from GM Ron Francis.

According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Seattle Kraken have come to terms with expansion selection Jamie Oleksiak on a five year deal that will pay him approximately $4.6 million per season.

Check it out:

If this is indeed the case, I'd have to say that this is a massive overpayment both in term and in dollars for GM Ron Francis. The 28 year old Oleksiak hasn't put up more than 14 points in an NHL season and, frankly, there's a reason why the Stars left him unprotected for tonight's draft. It was also obvious that the Stars would protect Miro Heiskanen and John Klingberg, but some fans were surprised when Oleksiak was left unprotected over Esa Lindell.
