The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 in Game 6 of their second-round series on Thursday night to advance to the Stanley Cup semifinals. That means they will face the Montreal Canadiens next, a team that had been waiting for their next opponent after sweeping the Winnipeg Jets in their second round.

Vegas head coach Pete DeBoer didn’t waste anytime looking how to prepare his club for the next challenge, which starts on Monday in Vegas, and took a surprising approach to get all the necessary information he needs to come out on top and make it to the Stanley Cup final.

He called his friend and Jets’ head coach Paul Maurice to talk about the series his team held against the Canadiens. Maurice revealed the information to media members on Friday when he faced the crowd for the end of the season press conference.

We kind of wonder what Maurice had to say to DeBoer, especially since he did not record a single win in the series. A lot of advice was probably given on star goalie Carey Price and fire-power forwards like Nick Suzuki, Tyler Toffoli and gritty veteran Corey Perry.

We will see what that conversation brings the Golden Knights heading into the series against the Canadiens.

When the Habs travel to Vegas for the opening two games of the series, it will mark the first time an NHL team crosses the border this season. The federal government granted the NHL an exemption to have the remaining teams avoid a 14-day quarantine for the final two rounds of the playoffs.

DeBoer and his players are certainly getting ready for their arrival and we cannot wait to see what this series has to offer.
