Jets cut ties with prospect Joona Luoto

According to a report from Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Joona Luoto on waivers for the purposes of contract termination. It's believed that the 23 year old Luoto asked the team to terminate his contract so that he could return to his native Finland to continue his career.

Luoto put up two goals and four points in just 11 games with the Jet's AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose last season and has zero points in 16 total NHL games, all with the Jets.
