In case you missed it last night, the MLB's Boston Red Sox bested the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 in Game 4 of the ALDS to move on to the ALCS and a shot to move on to the World Series. Fenway Park in Boston was an absolute gong show and tens of thousands of fans were celebrating both in the stadium and in the streets for hours after the victory.

While it's not unusual for celebrities and athletes to take in the atmosphere, it was interesting to see Buffalo Sabres captain... wait scratch that... he's not the captain anymore... sorry it was interesting to see former Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel in attendance. Eichel is, of course, a Boston native so it's not terribly surprising to see him at the game, but what one fan figured out is that Eichel was actually in a suite full of Boston Bruins players. In other words, Eichel was hanging out with all his newfound Bruins buddies.

Check it out:

If that won't get the rumor mill fired up, I don't know what will!

Frankly, it seems like an impossible effort for the Bruins to land Eichel given his $10 million cap hit but... well... you never know. The Bruins currently have just over $1 million in cap space and given the good work that GM Don Sweeney has done, there are really no bad contracts for the team to dump and clear salary. I mean, it's not like Sweeney is going to trade one of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand or David Pastrnak to make room for Eichel. All three of those players are more important to the Bruins' identity than Eichel could or would be. Rather, if Sweeney does want to take a run at Eichel, he'd need to get very, VERY creative and, frankly, he'd need Sabres GM Kevyn Adams to retain a significant portion of Eichel's salary... something that has been a major sticking point with the Sabres this offseason.

In the end, I just don't see a fit between the Bruins and the Sabres when it comes to an Eichel deal. Again, never say never, but cheering alongside the Bruins in a Fenway suite might be as close as Eichel ever gets to playing for his hometown Bruins.
