Horror stories emerge from TSN employees after radio stations shut downs

Bell media and TSN have absolutely eviscerated their radio presence in much of Canada today by officially shutting down TSN 1040 Vancouver, TSN 1150 Hamilton and TSN 1290 Winnipeg. It’s the latest in a wave of corporate lay offs from Bell just weeks after their wildly successful #BellLetsTalkDay to raise awareness for mental health.

This is why horror stories now emerging from employees are even more disgusting. This was done by a company who prides themselves in helping people struggling with mental health issues.

It all started when it was revealed that staff in Vancouver were only given 30 minutes to pack their stuff up and leave. According to longtime TSN 1040 contributor Paul Chapman, employees were blindsided by today’s news:

Lol, staff were told there would be an 'exit message' going on air and were also told "corporate security would be implementing the shutdown process in the next 30 minutes' and so they if they had anything personal to retrieve they should do it 'as fast as possible'.

Then, more horror stories were shared on social media, where Bell and TSN are taking a lot of heat online today.

Not only were the employees told that they had just 30 minutes to pack their stuff up and leave, most of them weren’t aware of what was happening because Bell Media had not even gotten around to formally telling those losing their jobs before it was everywhere. Reporter Paul Friesen communicated with a TSN employee in Winnipeg while the chaos was happening who hadn’t been informed he was losing his job. He simply replied to Friesen at the time: “None of us know what is going on. Where is everyone seeing or hearing this?”

These are people with kids and family members who could have been looking for work with notice!

On top of that, many people are aware that Bell Media received a federal wage subsidy for $122M in the middle of a pandemic and have now fired hundreds of people with no warning. This is not sitting well with people who aren’t afraid to share that information online.

And the Bell layoffs continue.

They’ve now shut down the TSN Vancouver, Winnipeg and Hamilton stations.

Yeah let’s talk Bell... let’s talk about taking over $100M in government subsidy in the middle of a pandemic and firing hundreds of people with no warning.

Let’s not forget about the the talented men and women of TSN 1040, TSN 1150 AND TSN 1290 who have put in countless hours of work for our FREE entertainment. They were blindsided today in a disgusting move by Bell Media, who is now trending for all the wrong reasons. The hashtag Cancel Bell is all over social media.
