Thye Las Vegas Golden Knights got a nasty surprise on Friday and it sounds like it was through absolutely no fault of their own.

According to a report from Justin Emerson of the Las Vegas Sun, the Golden Knights were unceremoniously evicted from their hotel on Friday, after that hotel suddenly declared bankruptcy. The team reportedly had their pre-game meal and then the hotel simply up and closed because it had declared bankruptcy, leaving the Golden Knights in something of an unbelievable predicament.

Now we have not been able to officially confirm the hotel at which the Golden Knights were staying at on Friday night, but it has been widely reported that the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose has closed its doors. The iconic and upscale hotel has has closed its doors for bankruptcy but there are already reports that it will reopen within a few short months.

This of course was of little consolation to the Golden Knights who were left high and dry. Even worse however was that the Golden Knights are currently trying to play within the NHL's covid protocols and I can only imagine what a disaster having to change hotels proved to be for the entire team. Golden Knights head coach Peter DeBoer confirmed that it was a strange experience for the entire team.

"It was a surreal experience," said the Golden Knights bench boss as per Emerson . "Hopefully this is the end of the COVID year, but it was almost the topping on the cake for what the last year has been for everybody in the world. Just another thing throw at you, another thing to deal with.

"Not that I’m putting it in the same breath as dealing with COVID, but it was just one of those things we got thrown at us, we dealt with it and found a way to get off to a good start, so good resiliency by our group."

The Golden Knights were forced to move all of their stuff to a new hotel and the players joked that Alex Tuch and Ryan Reaves, who had brought along a video game system to play with, had the hardest time of all.
