This just in, goaltender Linus Ullmark has taken a leave of absence from the Buffalo Sabres for personal reasons. As a result, the team has recalled goaltender Jonas Johansson from the team's taxi squad. It's expected that Johansson will back up Carter Hutton for tonight's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Check it out:

It's unclear just how long Ullmark will be out of the lineup or when he'll return, but suffice it to say this is difficult news for both the player and the team. We can only speculate as to why Ullmark is leaving the team, but here's hoping that everything is alright in his personal life. If 2020 taught us anything it's that health and happiness or what truly matters. Hockey and the Sabres will be there whenever Ullmark resolves his personal matters.

For the Sabres though, this is a big blow. This is a team facing big expectations for the first time in a long time and Ullmark is expected to be a big part of the team's success this season. The 27 year old netminder split time with Hutton last season, but the Sabres' coaching and management staff have anointed him as the team's starting goaltender for the 2021 season. Again, here's hoping that he and his family are okay and that he can get back in action as soon as possible.
