The Seattle Kraken have added another player to their roster.

They've agreed to terms with forward Riley Sheahan on a one year contract worth a reported $850,000:

Sheahan was originally drafted 21st overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He would go on to spend the first portion of his National Hockey League career with the iconic Original 6 franchise, and appeared on the verge of solidifying himself as a solid third line forward. That is, until his production fell off a cliff during the 2016-17 campaign.

In fact, Sheahan will go down in history as having scored the final goal in the history of Joe Louis Arena, which was Detroit's home from 1979 until their move to the brand new Little Caesars Arena in 2017. What's even more ironic is that Sheahan tallied twice in that game after having gone the entire regular season without lighting the lamp once.

It wasn't long into the following season that the Red Wings traded him to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for grinding forward Scott Wilson. Sheahan's offensive production wasn't as rare with the Penguins, as he posted a modest 11 goals with 21 assists in the 73 games following his acquisition.

He's since bounced around the NHL, having played for the Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers (because we know that Ken Holland sure loves to bring back former players into the fold) and most recently with the Buffalo Sabres.

In 566 career NHL games, Sheahan has scored 70 goals with 107 assists. He's also registered 91 penalty minutes along with a rather pedestrian -58 plus/minus rating.
