When your franchise can never escape its reputation…

The poor Philadelphia Flyers are not only out of playoff contention after making fans believe they would be a great contender, they were also left with a sour taste in their months on Tuesday when they were unfortunately involved in Washington Capitals’ Tom Wilson’s actions against the New York Rangers, which took place the night before.

As you know by now, Wilson was only given a $5,000 fine for punching Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich in the back of the head while he was facedown on the ice, while also throwing star Artemi Panarin to the ice in the ensuing scrum.

When the news was reported everywhere, consequently trending on social media, Wilson was said to be a player of the Flyers and not the Caps! ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski caught the mistake and posted it with the best caption: When your franchise can never escape its reputation.

Brutal!

The mistake was later on corrected, but you have to admit this is bad - for the social media and for the Flyers.

After actions like there, we know they don’t want anything to do with Wilson.
