According to a second hand report from Philadelphia Flyers general manager via Flyers insider Bill Meltzer, the team will attempt to play former 11th overall pick Sam Morin as a left winger at the team's upcoming training camp this weekend.

Check it out:

At this point... why not?

Despite being drafted more than seven years ago, Morin has played just nine games for the Flyers, collecting a grand total of 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points and eight penalty minutes. Not exactly setting the world on fire...

The 6 foot, 6 inch giant has suffered through two separate knee injuries over the past two years, limiting him to just 11 games split between the Flyers and their AHL affiliate Lehigh-Valley Phantoms. Maybe a clean bill or health and a fresh start on the wing is exactly what Morin needs? Stay tuned, this has real "Brent Burns" potential to it. Remember that Burns was another big, but mostly ineffective defenseman to start his NHL career before getting a boost when placed on the wing alongside Joe Thornton. Maybe Morin could jumpstart his career as Burns did?
