Fleury had special message for Price, gets behind childhood team right after elimination

On Thursday night, Arturri Lekhonen scored the overtime winner, the Montreal Canadiens beat the Vegas Golden Knights  to advance to the Stanley Cup finals and young Marc-Andre Fleury’s dream came true.

That’s surely hard to understand as he is the goalie of the Knights, but growing up, Flower was a fan of the Habs, hoping to see them advancing to the Stanley Cup final. They advance to the final for the first time since 1993.

As both teams met at center ice to shake hands in the traditional way, Fleury got closer to Habs star goalie Carey Price and shared with him a classy message, once encouraged from the little boy inside of him, telling Number 31:

“Go get it man.”

Price stopped 37 shots for Montreal, which will look to end Canada’s championship drought that stretches back to the franchise’s last title 28 years ago.

Fleury was a little boy when his favourite childhood team hoisted the Cup, and you have to wonder if he will cheer on the club that eliminated his…

The Canadiens clinched a berth in the title series on home ice for the seventh time since the league expanded in 1966-67, and the first since defeating the Islanders in Game 5 at the Montreal Forum on May 24, 1993.
The Habs advanced to the Eastern Conference final in both 2010 and 2014, but lost out to the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers, respectively.

When the Canadiens were crowned champions in 1993, Flower was a 9-year-old boy, living in Sorel, just minutes out of Montreal.

He was cheering then, will he be now?
