There was more tragic news today out of the world of hockey, as we're dealing with the shocking passing of former Boston Bruins forward Jimmy Hayes at the young age of 31.

Hayes was found in his Milton, MA home by police and first responders. While the official cause of death isn't yet known, police don't believe it to be of a suspicious nature.

While we continue to process this sad news, let's take a look back at one of the greatest moments of his career in which he scored his 1st career hat trick:

Hayes was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008, and broke into the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks. He appeared in his first NHL game in December of 2011 against the Detroit Red Wings, and would soon score his first goal a few days later in January of 2012 against the Edmonton Oilers.

He would eventually be traded to the Florida Panthers in 2013. He'd then later be sent to his hometown Bruins in a deal that saw Reilly Smith and the contract of Marc Savard head down south to the Panthers.

He was signed by the Bruins to a three-year, $6.9 million contract in July 2015, and was bought out two years later. He'd later finish his career with the New Jersey Devils, as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins' AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.
