Flashback: Henrik Zetterberg buries OT winner vs. Ducks, forces Game 7

It appeared to have all of the makings of a deflating letdown, but that's when the captain stepped in to save the day.

The Detroit Red Wings enjoyed a 3-1 lead against the Anaheim Ducks in Game 6 of the 2013 Western Conference Quarter-Finals at a rocking Joe Louis Arena, and the 20,066 in attendance were feeling confident that their team would enjoy the fruits of victory on home ice and force a deciding Game 7 back out west in Anaheim.

However, the Ducks quickly stunned the crowed with two tallies in short order late in the 3rd period. First, forward Emerson Etem converted on a giveaway behind Detroit's net and tucked the puck past a surprised Jimmy Howard to cut the deficit to one. It wasn't long afterwards that future Red Wings forward Bobby Ryan would smack home a rebound, knotting the score at 3-3 and sowing the seeds of doubt in the building. 

Overtime soon followed - but the extra session didn't last long. Pavel Datsyuk earned a face-off win in the Ducks zone, sending the puck back to defenseman Nicklas Kronwall. The Swedish blue liner then fed his countryman Henrik Zetterberg at the top of the face-off circle - that's when the Red Wings captain put his head down and fired the puck past goaltender Jonas Hiller, sending the crowd (many of whom were making their way back to their seats) into a frenzy. 

Game 7 was officially guaranteed, and Zetterberg once again came up huge for his team. He broke the ice with the opening goal in the deciding game, which he and the Red Wings would hold on to win by a 3-2 final score.
