Erik Karlsson “won't be back anytime soon”

That blockbuster trade is looking worse and worse for the Sharks by the day.

Safe to say that the San Jose Sharks might want a do-over on the Erik Karlsson trade...

In case you've forgotten Karlsson was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Sharks just prior to the 2018-19 season in exchange for Chris Tierney, Rudolfs Balcers, Dylan Demelo, Josh Norris and a 2020 1st round pick that netted the team Jake Sanderson. Norris and Sanderson look like legit NHL stars in the making, while Karlsson continues his steady decline.

Oh... and to make matters worse Sharks head coach Bob Boughner announced today that the injured Karlsson "won't be back anytime soon."

Check it out:

 Ouch. That's... that's concerning...

The former two time Norris Trophy winner has just four assists in 13 games with the Sharks so far this season and put up his worst point totals in nearly a decade last season. In his final three seasons with the Sens, Karlsson put up 82, 71 and 62 points... he's put up 45 and 40 points in back to back seasons with the Sharks. And given today's news, Karlsson is likely to establish a new career low with the Sharks this season. Double ouch.
