Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers forward will miss the rest of the regular season with an upper body injury after taking a huge hit from Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Muzzin this past weekend.

Jets head coach Paul Maurice did say though that the team is hopefuly Ehlers can join the team for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Check it out:

And here's the hit in question:

It looks like Muzzin got the worst of this hit, but something must have obviously rocked Ehlers on the play. Interestingly enough though, Ehlers continued to play and even got involved in an altercation with Leafs forward Joe Thornton.

That... that likely didn't help things...

Any way you look at it, this is a tough, tough, TOUGH break for Ehlers and the Jets. The 25 year old Dane is the team's second leading goal scorer and point producer with 21 goals and 46 points in 47 games. He's a game-breaking talent with the ability to change the game in a single shift. His absence creates a giant void in the Jets' lineup, so here's hoping he's back 100% come playoff time.
