Duncan Keith gets mad at reporters for role in Hawks’ rebuild

Maybe the questions need to stop here now?

It was a rough offseason for the Chicago Blackhawks and the team is making the most of it so far. The Hawks are still missing captain Jonathan Toews, rookie Kirby Dach and a true backbone in net, and of course, fans cannot blame Patrick Kane or Duncan Keith for it either. Not only were both players worried about the Hawks’ decision to engage into a rebuild, but now have to face the battle without their captain.

But both players have held their heads high and are truly leading the way in Chicago, who’s got a 8-5-4 record after 17 games after all.

However, reporters appear to be stuck on the idea of the rebuild and where things go from here for the Blackhawks. Will they traded veteran players, like Kane and Keith, to let them have a shot at another Stanley Cup, will they ride it out,… questions about the rebuild keep being asked and finally on Tuesday, Keith had enough.

When asked, one more time, about his role mentoring young defensemen in Chicago, Keith got fed up, according to Ben Pope of the Sun Times.

“These young guys, they’re young, but it’s not like they’re kittens.”

Maybe he questions need to stop here now? You have to admit the Blackhawks are doing much better than expected this season.

And it isn’t the first time this year Keith throws a little hook at media members. Earlier this month, the veteran blue liner made a joke that went viral in the hockey world and ignited a years-old argument on social media.

“Getting the Corsi up, so you guys think I’m good.”

He raised a good point then, and he did too on Tuesday when asked - yet again - about his role in the Blackhawks’ rebuild.
