Dubois shakes off trade rumours, signs a short-term deal with Blue Jackets
Columbus Blue Jackets

This just in, despite a report that he was looking for a change of scenery, restricted free agent forward Pierre Luc Dubois has signed a two year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Check it out:

Dubois will earn $3.35 million during the 2020-21 season and $6.65 million in the second year of the deal and the Blue Jackets will pay a $5 million cap hit for a player that's frankly worth every penny.

"I'm excited to have the contract done and to be able to get back on the ice and play hockey again, especially with everything that is going on in the world right now," said Dubois in a prepared statement. "I'm very fortunate and looking forward to being with my teammates at camp and the start of a new season."

"Pierre-Luc is a talented, young player with great potential, and we look forward to his continued growth and development, and the valuable contributions he will bring to our team," said Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said in the same statement. "I'd like to thank my staff, as well as Pat Brisson and his group, for their professionalism and efforts to finalize this agreement prior to the start of training camp to ensure that the focus moving forward is on our team and achieving its goals for the upcoming season."
