The offseason work for Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman will continue with the upcoming NHL Draft, as he'll have his hands full in deciding which players will be the latest additions to the team rebuilding process.
Until then, we now know when the Red Wings will be hitting the ice for their first action of the 2021-22 NHL Season, albeit in exhibition play. They'll officially kick off the preseason at United Center for a matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks on September 29, followed by a return home the following day at Little Caesars Arena against the Buffalo Sabres.
Additional opponents include the Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins, and more matchups against the Blackhawks and Sabres. The full preseason schedule is as follows:
