The Detroit Red Wings are liking what they're seeing from young German defenseman Moritz Seider, whom they made their top overall draft selection in 2019. And apparently, so does his homeland.

Seider, who is set to begin his first National Hockey League season, was listed as one of the first three players taken by Team German for the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing this February. The other players taken were Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisatl and Seattle Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer; all three are making their Olympics debuts.

Last season, Seider tallied seven goals and had 28 points in 41 games with Rogle in Sweden, while earning the distinction of being the top blue liner in the SEL.
