Coyotes set to offer Auston Matthews the richest contract in NHL history

The Arizona Coyotes were busy sellers this offseason. Ever since they hung up the skates after the 2021 regular season, the Yotes have acquired several draft picks by trading away Conor Garland, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Darcy Kuemper, Christian Dvorak, amongst others.

It sounds like they have a huge objective and target in mind: having all of the money available to bring superstar Auston Matthews back home to Arizona and get him to lead a young crew of players in the desert.

Using the several picks acquired for the upcoming draft, the Coyotes also look to rebuild to get together a good team with young talents in their system in order to make room for as much space as possible under the salary cap in 2024 to sign Matthews.

According to several observers, including Steve Kournianos of The Draft Analyst, Arizona has already started to pave the way to afford superstar Matthews in 2024.

The Coyotes seem to be genuinely prepared to offer him the biggest contract in NHL history.

“No doubt they will give it to him.”

Now that Christian Dvorak has left in a trade to the Montreal Canadiens this past weekend, the Coyotes will only have three players under contract in 2024 if nothing changes in the meantime.

We are very curious to see what kind of contract Matthews can sign once he hits free agency, but the Coyotes’ offer could be very difficult to beat.
