The Edmonton Oilers came out on top on Thursday night over the Winnipeg Jets, winning 2-1, however, the entire credit needs to go to captain Connor McDavid.

The star player didn’t only score the two goals for his club, he also prevented ones coming from the sticks of Jets’ player.

The captain was a true leader and was the best “defenseman” on the ice. Even his teammates and head coach Dave Tippett admitted that much after the win.

“He’s incredible. It’s amazing to watch,” said defenseman Ethan Bear, per Sportsnet. “We were joking around, ‘We play a tight game, we have the best player in the league, and he doesn’t get tired. He does phenomenal things, like scoring two tonight, and we’ve just got to do our part and hold down the fort.’”
“What I like most about him this year is, he’s come in with a real determined mindset to defend well and be a real solid player in our own end,” said Tippett. “Our whole coaching staff talks about it every day, how much he’s dug in to playing a real winning style of game.

If you ask McDavid himself, he simply answers that he’s trying to better his game.

“[Defensive play] is always a main focus for us. I know it doesn’t always look like it,” McDavid said post-game. “We’re always trying to limit chances and keep the puck out of our net.”

And goalie Mikko Koskinen knows who to thank for the victory.

“Basically, he got us those two points tonight,” said Koskinen. “We are happy to have him.”

And opponents are always upset and mind boggled to play against him!
