It's safe that say that this has been a disastrous season for the Philadelphia Flyers. Despite seemingly taking a step forward in 2019-20, the Flyers have fallen off a cliff this season. They're 6th place in the East Division ahead of just league-wide bottom feeders the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres, they have some of the worst defensive numbers in the NHL and stud goaltending prospect Carter Hart looks like a shattered young man.

So yeah... it's safe to say things aren't going according to plan in Philly.

So what's next? Shake up the roster with a trade? Sign a big name free agent on the blue line? Fire the coaching staff?

No one's certain yet what the offseason holds for the Flyers but GM Chuck Fletcher made it clear earlier this week that head coach Alain Vigneault and assistant coaches Michel Therrien and Mike Yeo will not take the fall for this campaign. The entire coaching staff will return next season.

Check it out:

I've got to say, I'm definitely a believer in Vigneault but this team needs another reset. Maybe a head coaching change isn't needed, but the Flyers have been awful on special teams so it's surprising that Fletcher isn't considering any tweaks to his coaching staff. Frankly though, I think if this team has another couple capable defenders and they can get Hart back to anything close to the 2019-20 version of himself, they'll be a much better team in 2021-22.
