Carey Price travels down to Washington State despite border closed for “non-essential travel”

This is the most talked about topic in the NHL at the moment : Montreal Canadiens’ Carey Price has been left unprotected for the Seattle Kraken expansion draft.

Price could become the face of the NHL’s 32nd franchise if general manager Ron Francis and his staff decide to take on one of the biggest contracts in hockey. So sure, the Habs face the risk to lose Price, but few fans believed the Kraken would be willing to take on five more years at a $10.5 million cap hit.

But Habs fans did not relax for long. Price’s wife Angela, who is from Kennewick, Washington by the way, posted on social media that the Price family, who was in Kelowna to check on their offseason home, was now driving down to Washington state to see family.

Sure, it makes sense that Angela wants to see family, however, let us remind you that with the COVID pandemic,  the U.S. land border will remain closed to non-essential travel until at least Aug. 21.

Unless it is an essential travel, let’s say getting to Seattle to be announced as the face of the new NHL franchise?

Price played for the Western Hockey League’s Tri-Cities Americans a few hours drive away and would be a  natural cornerstone for the Kraken to build around like the Vegas Golden Knights did with goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. And remember how Flower showed up in person for that said draft?

Yep, Montreal fans are nervous…
