It was rumoured last month that the Vancouver Canucks were looking to completely rebuild its management group with this exciting chatter that the ownership was involved in ongoing discussions with Henrik and Daniel Sedin about potential roles within the organization.

This was first reported by TSN’s Darren Dreger, who added more fuel to the fire on Tuesday by stating that “Daniel and Henrik Sedin’s new roles with the Vancouver Canucks will be unveiled tomorrow”, focusing on development and their American Hockey League club in Abbotsford.

However, the Canucks made the announcement official moments later, when it was revealed that general manager Jim Benning said that Daniel and Henrik Sedin will join the Hockey Operations department as Special Advisors to the G.M.

The Sedins will learn and support all areas of the team's hockey operations including player evaluation, development and communication from the amateur to NHL level. They will work collaboratively with Abbotsford's AHL staff and coaches, participate in amateur and pro scouting meetings and participate in planning for the Draft, Free Agency and trade deadline.

"Henrik and Daniel's hockey intellect and experience is exceptional," said Benning. "We've had an open line of communication since they retired as players. They are students of the game, eager to learn, who will make valuable contributions and strengthen our staff. We are very pleased to add their knowledge and passion for the game and have them begin the next stage of their careers with us."

Originally drafted by the Canucks with the 2nd and 3rd overall picks in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the Sedin twins would end up playing over 2600 combined games with the organization and it would just make sense for them to lead the way to a better future. They rank first and second in all-time Canucks scoring and retired together following the 2017-18 season. Henrik Sedin scored 240 goals and added 830 assists over 1,330 career games while Daniel Sedin tallied 393 goals and 648 assists over 1,306 games.

Could be a great way for ownership to get the fanbase excited once again with the Canucks, who unfortunately ranked last in the North Division with a 22–29-4 record.

A majority of the Canucks’ fanbase has been calling for the organization to move on from general manager Jim Benning, but the addition of the Sedin Twins could be the game-changer everyone is looking for in Vancouver.
