The Montreal Canadiens surprised many fans last week when they fired head coach Claude Julien and assistant Kirk Muller, and it looks like they weren’t done with surprises.

Late on Tuesday night, after interim head coach Dominique Ducharme earned his first win with the team, the Canadiens announced that they fired goalie coach Stephane Waite. Waite held the position since 2013.

Sean Burke will take over the position.

As noted by the NHL's website, Burke will be required to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine before joining the team. During this transition period, Laval Rocket goaltending coach Marco Marciano will work with the Canadiens' goaltenders until Burke is cleared to join the squad.

Here is a little background on the man that will now Carey Price and backup goalie Jake Allen, per NHL.com:

"Burke was hired by the Canadiens in 2016 as a professional scout for the Western region. He also worked as a goaltending consultant for Montreal. Burke spent six seasons as a member of the Coyotes' hockey management group, serving as goaltending coach and director of player development before being promoted to assistant general manager on July 10, 2012. He enjoyed an 18-year NHL career, suiting up for the New Jersey Devils, Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes.

A three-time NHL All-Star, he represented Canada at the 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympics, earning a silver medal at the Albertville Games. Burke served as Canada's general manager at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang where the team won bronze without NHL players."

We all wonder if this is a good or a bad thing for Price...
