This season has been tough for players across the NHL, but maybe more so for the league's Canadian teams. Players in Canada have gone the entire season with no fans in the crowd and have had fairly strict COVID-19 protocols placed on them in comparison to their American counterparts. While you won't hear any of them complaining about their lot in life, it still has to take its toll. These are well compensated and well taken care of young men, but they're still human and being separated from your family and playing to zero fans everyday must wear on you.

Right or wrong, this is the reality of the situation in much of Canada these days. While much of the United States opens up for business as usual, the same can't be said up North and today's report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman is, unfortunately, not very surprising. Friedman confirmed that the CHL's draft eligible showcase, that is a mini-tournament format for draft eligible OHL, WHL and QMJHL players, will not be held in Edmonton, as was initially planned. Instead, the event will happen in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Tough break for Hockey Canada, but honestly I'm just happy that these kids will get the opportunity to showcase their talents ahead of the draft this offseason.
