Calgary Flames announce contract extension for defenseman Juuso Välimäki

The Calgary Flames have taken care of another important matter of business this afternoon.

They've announced that defenseman Juuso Välimäki to a two-year contract with a reported cap hit of $1.55 million:

He was selected by the Flames in the first-round, 16th overall, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He arrived in Calgary highly touted, as he was ranked by the Central Scouting Bureau as was ranked as No. 11 of North American skaters and the 14 skater by ISS Hockey.

He appeared in 49 games with the Flames, his first NHL season in 2020-21, scoring two goals with nine assists for 11 points, along with 26 PIM.
