Bruins’ Wagner forced to delete all social media accounts

Practice was hard for the Boston Bruins on Friday morning as head coach Bruce Cassidy was not happy with his players. Last night, the New York Islanders rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the Bruins 4-3 in the first major league sporting event in Boston. Cassidy was not in the mood this morning and was caught and heard by many insiders present flipping out and swearing at his players on the ice as he stopped a drill.

After practice, insider Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic had noticed that forward Chris Wagner was no longer on Twitter or Instagram. When he asked the 29-year-old about it, he got the stunning answer that Wagner in fact delete his social media accounts and gave this as a reason for his decision:

“Bad for the brain right now.”

While some fans were still about to find his account, it is believed that Wagner has removed the apps from his phone.

We bet fans can be vocal and negative, especially as the Bruins enter a tight playoff race and the comments might have been getting to Wagner.

If he believes this is the best decision for him, we can only support it. Depression and mental health are not often discussed in the National Hockey League and it’s good that Wagner was able to recognize this was a problem and found the best solution for him.

Let’s keep encourage him on the ice as he focuses on what matters most.
