Foligno states that his daughter's life-saving surgeries in the the Boston area played a part in his decision to make the city his family's new home.

Foligno had been linked to the Minnesota Wild where his brother Marcus plays, but evidently the two sides couldn't get a deal done.

The 33 year old forward finished out last season with a short stint on the Toronto Maple Leafs, but prior to that spent half a decade as captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets. He put up seven goals and 20 points in 49 games split between the Leafs and Blue Jackets last season.
