On Thursday night, fans were allowed back at the TD Garden to see their Boston Bruins in action. They left disappointed… The New York Islanders rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the Bruins 4-3 in the first major league sporting event in Boston.

The Islanders trailed 2-0 after one period and then Anthony Beauvillier scored 21 seconds into overtime. The Bruins were back on the ice for the first time in a week, after five players entered the COVID-19 protocol. David Krejci, David Pastrnak and Craig Smith were cleared to play; Sean Kuraly and Jake DeBrusk remained sidelined.

On Friday morning at practice, the Bruins had to pay. Head coach Bruce Cassidy was not in the mood and was caught and heard by many insiders present flipping out and swearing at his players on the ice as he stopped a drill.

“Score some (expletive) goals by going to the (expletive) net! Quit looking for plays that aren’t (expletive) there!”

Tough practice today for the Bruins, who will face the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday afternoon. Goalie Tuukka Rask was missing from practice, he who was unable to finish last night’s game due to an upper-body injury. Rask stopped six of six shots in the first period and then was not seen again in the contest.

Let’s see if coach Cassidy’s hard ways and bad words can shake up the group in time to collect much-needed point for the playoff push. The Bruins currently sit fourth in the division, five points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins, but do have five games in hand.
