The Boston Bruins will be down a man for Game 4 on Saturday night in their second round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the New York Islanders, and in spite of an early scare during Saturday morning's practice that man will not be forward Brad Marchand.

Instead Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed on Saturday that the injury suffered by veteran defenseman Brandon Carlo in Game 3 of this series will see him forced out of their 4th meeting with the Islanders. Carlo was injured in Game 3 after he was rocked by a huge hit from Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck. The hit, which occurred behind the Bruins net, appeared to catch Carlo at an awkward angle, one that sent his head crashing into the glass and knocked him out of that game and as we now know Game 4 as well. Cassidy has indicated that Carlo will be day to day, although that gives us no indication of when we might expect him back.

It wasn't all bad news on the Carlo front however with Cassidy indicating that the defenseman is feeling better after the hit in Game 3, although obviously not well enough to play tonight.

Stepping in for Carlo this evening will be the always popular Jarred Tinordi, a punishing physical type of player that has brought an element of grit to the Bruins lineup that has earned him the respect and admiration of fans who love to see that style of play from their team. The inclusion of Tinordi in tonight's lineup however is also an indirect indication that veteran defenseman Kevan Miller is still unable to go due to injury concerns of his own. This will be Tinordi's second appearance for the Bruins in these Stanley Cup Playoffs, with his first appearance coming during the final game of Boston's first round series against the Washington Capitals. In spite of being called into action on short notice, once again due to injuries to the Bruins blue line, Tinordi chewed up over 19 minutes of ice time during that game and performed admirably, especially by the standards of a depth defenseman.

It is unclear exactly where Tinordi will slot into the lineup tonight with Cassidy indicating that he will keep things fluid on the backend when it comes to his pairings in Game 4.
