The Carolina Hurricanes clinched their first round series against the Predators with a 4-3 overtime win in Game 6 Thursday night in Nashville.

The Canes trailed 3-1 in the second period and it was the first time in the first-round series that Carolina had trailed by more than a goal. They came back from a two-goal deficit thanks in great part to a two-goal performance, including the game-winning goal, by Sebastian Aho as well as the late tying goal by defenseman Dougie Hamilton.

After the game, the Hurricanes shared on social media one of the most emotional video of the postseason yet. Head coach Rod Brind’Amour spoke to his players, with his phone in hand, and mentioned how they battled after a few hiccups, how they managed to get back on track to win the game.

He then explained why he had his phone: his father has health issues and his mother got him on the line as Brind’Amour explained how watching the Hurricanes play is what his father keeps doing to get better. An emotional Brind’Amour thanked his players for offering his father a victory to move on to the second round.

The players cheered and went on to sing Happy Birthday to Brind’Amour’s father.

The line about the footage states: When we say we’re a family, we mean it.

This is an extraordinary video. Check it out:

This was just the sixth time the Hurricanes managed to raly from a multi-goal deficit to win a playoff game and only the second in a series-clinching game. The last was Game 7 of the first round in 2019.

The Hurricanes will play defending champion Tampa Bay, the No. 3 seed in the Central Division.
