The Las Vegas Golden Knights suffered an extremely deflating loss in Game 3 of their third round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night and it would now appear as though there will be consequences for the mistakes that led to that loss.

Although there has been no official announcement on the part of the Golden Knights at the time of this writing, it appears as though Golden Knights head coach Peter DeBoer has chosen his goaltender for Game 4. On Sunday the Golden Knights had veteran netminder Robin Lehner in the starter's net, a place that had normally been occupied by Marc Andre Fleury throughout the playoffs so far, an indication that DeBoer will be going back to Lehner after Fleury's major gaffe in Game 4.

Here's a shot of Lehner in the starter's net:

Now this could simply be gamesmanship on the part of the Golden Knights' bench boss, however he has shown what could be considered favoritism towards Lehner during past playoff runs. Not only was Lehner spotted in the starter's net on Sunday as per a report from Kyle Bukauskas, he also was the first goaltender to leave the ice after doing so. This is yet another indication that DeBoer has made the decision to make the switch in goal after Fleury's terrible Game 4 blunder.

You would be hard pressed to argue that Fleury did not cost his team the game on Friday night, so I can certainly see why DeBoer has decided to make the change in the short term. I would point out though that Fleury has overall been an outstanding performer for the Golden Knights in these playoffs so a part of me is genuinely surprised to see DeBoer going in this direction, especially after some of the rather public conflicts that Fleury and DeBoer have had with one another. For those of you who missed the play that likely led to this change, here is a replay of the misplay that led to a Golden Knights loss in Game 3.

Lehner has made just a single appearance in the playoffs thus far, recording a 7.03 goals against average and an .811 save percentage in that appearance, so this is a very risky play on the part of DeBoer if Lehner does indeed start Game 4.
