The Blue Jackets are making it happen. The team’s majority owner John P. McConnell sent a Gulfstream 4 to Ottawa this morning, according to team insider Aaron Portzline of The Athletic. That’s how badly the Jackets want to get their newly-acquired player on the ice as soon as possible. Laine is expected to arrive in Columbus on Friday after spending time in Ottawa while working to receive his work visa.

He will however need to undergo a 48-quarantine before joining team activities. With the Blue Jackets playing in Chicago Sunday, it is believed Tuesday is the earliest Laine could make his team debut. It is believed the team pulled off impressive work to get Laine in Columbus as soon as possible.

Laine was acquired by the Blue Jackets, along with Jack Roslovic this past Saturday, for centre Pierre-Luc Dubois and a third-round pick. Roslovic has already made his debut with his new team, going without a point in 14:44 of ice time in a 3-2 shootout win over the Florida Panthers. As for Dubois, he is currently spending the mandatory 14-day quarantine in Winnipeg before he can join the Jets.

At the time of the trade, Laine had put up two goals and an assist in his lone game with the Jets this season as he was sitting out with an upper-body injury.

The Jackets cannot wait anymore to have Laine on their roster. Literally.
